MIDTOWN SERVICE REQUEST FORM

BULK TRASH GUIDELINES

Midtown provides bulk trash removal for properties within the district. Each property is allowed one complementary pickup per year.*

Bulk trash should NOT BE PLACED OUTSIDE until you have received a scheduled pickup date from Midtown.

Procedure

  1. Submit service request.  

  2. Our team will schedule your pickup and notify you within 48-hours of request. 

  3. Items must be left in the public right of way. This is generally the rear of your property by the alleyway where the city collects household trash.
    If you have a parking pad, please make sure your items are as close to the edge of your property as possible. Midtown crews are not allowed to enter your property. 

  4. Place items outside by 6PM the day before scheduled service. 

*Condo owners and apartment residents: Please contact your condo association or property manager for details.


Excluded Items 

Per City regulation, Midtown is not allowed to remove the following items. If any of the items listed below are placed with regular trash or allowed bulk trash items, they will be left and are potentially subject to illegal dumping citations. If you are uncertain if an item qualifies for pickup, please provide more information in the service request, or contact us directly. 

  • Wooden pallets

  • Solid wood doors (hollow core
    can be collected)

  • Plywood

  • Lumber/firewood

  • Concrete/bricks/cinder blocks

  • Construction debris

  • Building materials

  • Items with exposed nails

  • Tires

  • Oil-based paint cans

  • Hazardous waste

GRAFFITI REMOVAL

Midtown removes graffiti and stickers from public areas including street signs, light poles, trash cans and bus stops. Instances of graffiti on private property*, and city-owned property is handled by the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW).


Request graffiti removal from DPW:

  1. Call 311 to request graffiti removal services. Record the service request (SR#) provided by the operator.

  2. Complete and submit the Graffiti Removal Release and Waiver of Liability Form.

All exterior work in CHAP Historic Districts require an Authorization to Proceed. CHAP has published guidelines instructing the proper removal process for removing graffiti from a historic property.

ILLEGAL DUMPING &
MUNICIPAL CODE VIOLATIONS

Enforcement of illegal dumping and code violations falls under the purview of Baltimore City Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD).


Report to 311:

  • Constituents should contact 311 to report instances that are repetitive in nature to initiate action. Only DHCD inspectors can enact enforcement by issuing notices and citations.

  • Be sure to record the service request (SR#) for requests submitted to 311.

LEAF MANAGEMENT

During leaf season, Midtown is out diligently cleaning up leaves in our streets, sidewalks, and parks. We regularly monitor the community, to focus on areas that have yet to be serviced, and those that have the greatest needs. Working to provide equitable service to all areas of the district, our operations collect leaves from every street before returning to a location.


Midtown works hard to make sure our leaves are sustainably and ecologically disposed. Most of our leaves meet the criteria of being litter free and containing little street grit and are eligible for composting. We partner with urban farms, community gardens, and local composters to make this happen. If you want leaves for your own composting, please contact us. We're happy to share!

How you can help:

  1. Please drive slowly while our crews are out working in the streets and do not park or drive through leaf piles.

  2. Help collect and bag leaves. We urge residents to put leaves in brown paper leaf bags. These allow us to easily collect and ecologically dispose of the green waste with the smallest environmental impact.

  3. If you or your neighbors want to tackle your block or park, we ask that you submit a service request in advance. This will allow our operations team time to schedule their routes accordingly.

  4. Submit a service request to alert our team of a particularly leafy area or to collect bagged leaves you have already collected. Leaf bags should be left in an easily accessible location (i.e. street corner, next to public trash can or in the alley behind a property where your municipal trash or bulk items are normally collected.

SAFETY

Uniformed Midtown Safety Officers will be present throughout their shift to deter unwanted activity, providing a safe presence to communities. Officers are in the community to observe and report safety concerns with our partners at Baltimore City Police Department.


  • Constituents should contact BCPD directly to report crimes, including incidents of drug activity, loitering and panhandling.
